BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
Villanova Prep is a community which values and encourages the unique talents and interests of every student. To that end, faculty and staff are dedicated to support each student’s spiritual, social, and physical development as well as their academic success. Small class size and a low student to teacher ratio make it possible for every Villanova student to be nurtured by caring teachers and staff.
The School strives to educate the whole person. As a result, it provides students with extracurricular programs and athletic activities that challenge, inspire, and develop sound bodies and minds. All activities at Villanova seek to promote social responsibility and teach students how to work harmoniously with others in achieving common goals. By creating a positive and caring environment for both resident and day students, Villanova promotes learning, love, unity, and respect for others.
Students are challenged through the offerings of fourteen Advanced Placement (AP) courses, beginning in grade 10. Villanova’s graduation requirements follow the recommendations of the University of California, so students are expected to study three full years of a foreign language, and complete four years of both math and science.
For international students, the English Immersion with Support (EIS) program utilizes specialized classes during the school day as well as dedicated time with counselors in the evening to strengthen the English language skills in preparation for college. Students do attend five or six of the seven daily classes with American students to experience and acquire the necessary listening and speaking skills, which provide a foundation for the written language.
An orientation for all new resident students takes place two weeks before the first day of school. This is an opportunity to settle into the new routine of living at school. Students embark on field trips to nearby universities and cultural centers, meet with teachers to review summer reading and other academic expectations, and ultimately become comfortable and prepared for success as a Villanova Wildcat.
In the last three years, Villanova graduates have matriculated to all University of California campuses, including Berkeley and Los Angeles, Stanford University, Cornell University, New York University, Notre Dame University, Villanova University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Southern California and Middlebury University, to name a few.
