TASIS The American School in England provides a high quality education for 720 students ages three to 18, representing almost 50 nations including Latin and South American countries. Approximately half attend the Upper School (ages 14 to 18), including 180 boarding students. Your student will forge life-long friendships with young people from varied cultures and backgrounds.

Located in a small English village only 18 miles from London and eight miles from Heathrow International Airport, the School’s beautiful 46-acre campus combines historic buildings with purpose-built classrooms, computer centers, an art/music complex, a 350-seat theater, and extensive sports facilities. Wireless Internet is available throughout the campus.

TASIS England’s challenging university-preparatory curriculum includes the American High School diploma, Advanced Placement courses and the International Baccalaureate diploma. Limited one-semester-only and year abroad opportunities are available. ESL instruction and special international section courses are provided for students whose native language is not English. Graduates attend universities of strong repute in the UK, the USA, and around the world.

Small classes (average 15) and a dedicated, experienced faculty provide highly individualized attention and an outstanding environment for learning. Taking full advantage of the opportunities that England and Europe offer as extensions to classroom learning, students enjoy numerous field trips, weekend activities, and travel within continental Europe.

The academic year begins in late August and is divided into two semesters, ending in January and June. Breaks include two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at Easter and one week in February. The educational October Travel Week is an integral part of the program and full costs are included in boarding fees.

Diverse extracurricular activities, community service, and cultural excursions ensure a balanced education. Students perform on campus in musicals, drama, concerts, and music recitals. Weekend trips include Bath, Cambridge, Oxford, and Stratford-upon-Avon. Friday evening theatre performances in London’s famous West End are particularly popular. The Model United Nations takes students annually to debate in The Hague.

Sports facilities include two gymnasiums, a fitness-center, tennis courts and extensive outdoor playing fields. Basketball, cross-country, volleyball, soccer, rugby, tennis, baseball and softball teams compete in tournaments with international schools throughout Europe in such destinations as Paris, Brussels, Munich, the Hague, and Frankfurt. Other recreational sports include badminton, horseback riding, squash, lacrosse, golf, and swimming.

Qualified administrators, experienced in serving the needs of young people, coordinate the Boarding Program. In its family-style community, the pastoral care of each student is paramount. Single-sex dormitories typically include 13 to 15 students sharing two- or three-person rooms, supervised by a resident teacher.

An experienced 24-hour nursing staff, and a school doctor on call, provide medical care from the campus Health Center. The school provides all meals, and the catering team is highly commended for the healthy, varied food they serve.

Applications are considered on a rolling admissions basis when all forms and supporting academic information (including a SLEP test, IELS or TOEFL score) are received.  Details and forms are available on the school website. Visits can be arranged by appointment throughout the year.
