BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
Founded in 1872, Stanstead College is an independent Canadian boarding and day school for boys and girls in Grades 7 through 12. Surrounded by the beautiful hills of Quebec's Eastern Townships and Northern Vermont, Stanstead College provides a safe, secure learning environment that bridges cultures and communities – a stop on a young person’s journey that feels like home. With top teaching, athletic and residential facilities, countless opportunities and, above all, a family atmosphere, Stanstead College brings out the best in its students as it guides them towards university and life after high school.
The school has a population of approximately 200 students and a highly involved faculty and staff. In addition to the Quebec Diploma in Grade 11, Stanstead College offers a Grade 12 option based on Advanced Placement and pre-university programs. Stanstead College is also the only Canadian school accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), affording graduates access to top colleges in the United States. In this small, secure environment, students enjoy a strong sense of community as they develop into young men and women prepared for university.
In addition to the rigorous academic program and student-focused learning, Stanstead College offers top-notch athletics at all grade levels in all three terms. Led by trained and dedicated coaches, our athletic teams are highly competitive in multiple sports – soccer, rugby, basketball, golf, swimming, tennis and, of course, hockey. In fact, our varsity boys and girls hockey teams are tops in Quebec and New England, while our developing varsity boys basketball program is poised to join the elite ranks. Playing with the Stanstead College Spartans encourages teamwork, leadership, fair play, dedication and perseverance – qualities that apply to all aspects of life.
Student life at Stanstead College is busy, fun and eye-opening. Whether students are meeting with their advisor, singing in the choir, participating in a service project, skiing, dancing, hiking or simply hanging out with friends, Stanstead College is never dull. One thing for certain: at Stanstead students make friendships that cross boundaries and cultures, friendships that will last a lifetime.
How then best to describe the Stanstead College experience? You live it. You become a part of it. You become a member of a Stanstead family that cares about each individual. Stanstead students may come from different backgrounds – cultural, economic, ethnic – but when they apply themselves and take advantage of everything Stanstead has to offer, they share an experience that transforms them into thoughtful, disciplined, inquisitive and healthy young men and women prepared for the tough demands of the world.
