Founded in 1899, St. Andrew’s College (SAC) is an independent, all-boys university preparatory school for grades 5-12. Located 40 minutes north of Toronto in the town of Aurora, SAC’s 110-acre campus is home to a mix of 625 boarding and day students from 34 countries. St. Andrew’s is Canada’s single largest all-boys boarding school, and welcomes boys from around the globe with strong academic backgrounds who also want to become active members of the SAC community.
SAC offers a rigorous academic curriculum with multiple Advanced Placement (AP) opportunities, and a rich, activity-based educational environment. Enriched and extended French programs are offered for students who wish to further their French language study, and the opportunity to graduate with an Extended French Certificate in addition to the St. Andrew’s Secondary School Diploma.
A Wireless Tablet program adds to the learning experience, incorporating the latest technology into the classroom. Each student is provided with a Fujitsu T902 convertible tablet computer to facilitate the completion of all coursework, and all classrooms and boarding houses are digitally equipped through a campus-wide wireless network.
As set out in its mission statement, SAC’s academic program is complemented by a wide range of co-curricular activities designed to develop 'the complete man, the well-rounded citizen.' All boys participate in extensive athletic program (62 teams across 22 sports). Top-notch facilities are a cornerstone to its outstanding athletic program, and the school prides itself on the quantity and quality of its facilities, which include two double gymnasiums; six international squash courts; turf field for lacrosse and rugby; six-lane running track, baseball diamond, 25-metre, six lane indoor pool; four tennis courts, weight-training facility, high-ropes course, and rock climbing wall. In September 2014, the School will open a new arena with a NHL-sized ice surface.
Many SAC students also choose to participate in SAC’s internationally acclaimed arts, drama, and music programs, and are active in photography, SACTV, robotics and engineering, community outreach, and more. The SAC Cadet Corp was established over 100 years ago and offers credit courses in leadership training.
There are several domestic and international trip opportunities available to students, including an exciting array of weekend activities for boarding and day students, such as ski trips, excursions to sporting events, white water rafting, and daytrips to Niagara Falls.
Graduates receive an average of four to five university offers each year and gain entry to top universities in Canada, the U.S., and abroad. Students are renowned for their strong values, dedication to community, lasting achievements, and lifelong friendships.
The SAC alumni network consists of nearly 6,000 Old Boys from over 60 different countries. The College hosts numerous events throughout the year and throughout the world to help them stay connected to their school.
